Girbau and Seidor stake on doing business together with startups

In search of projects impacting the entire model or a part of an industry’s value chain
Barcelona, July 18, 2018
Girbau and Seidor have recently launched a program to attract local and international startups who can offer differential value through digitization. In this edition, they are working with the operational support of Foment Up, a Fomento del Treball initiative connecting established companies with startups.

Girbau is a company which has established itself as one of the main international manufacturers of all types of laundry equipment. With production centers in Spain and France, they specialise in a range of product lines covering all industrial laundry processes.

Seidor is a multinational consultancy offering integral solutions in software and IT, strategy, development, operations, infrastructure, application maintenance, by request or outsourced.

The main objective of the Indtech Challenge program is to support startups who can offer disruptive solutions in any of the phases of the value chain of the industrial process (such as design and conceptualization, production and manufacturing, marketing etc) or who have value propositions that can partially or totally transform the industry through digitization and new business models, IoT, AI, chatboots and 3D printing etc.

The aim is to develop joint ventures and to sign specific agreements that can contribute to the evolution of both business ventures and the development of the technologies they work with. Some of the opportunities that both companies offer to startups are access to markets, strategic support, enhanced visibility and international projection

One of the differential features of Girbau and Seidor’s stake in this model of strategic collaboration is the direct involvement of its top decision makers. At the presentation of the program at Pier 01 at the end of June in Barcelona, Pere Girbau, (Girbau CEO), and Eduard Farga, (Seidor General Director) personally outlined the aims and objectives of the Indtech Challenge.
“Through this program we want to offer startups access to industrial know-how and to markets. At Girbau we are firmly committed to establishing collaborations with startups because commitment to open innovation is a win-win for both parties. Proof of this conviction is the involvement, at both Girbau and Seidor, of the top managers of both companies”
– Pere Girbau
“This initiative reinforces Seidor’ strategic commitment to promoting digital innovation and transformation in SMEs, as a driver of competitiveness and growth. The differential value of the Indtech Challenge for startups lies in the complementarity that the joint impulse of Girbau and Seidor’s delivers, the practical orientation to business development integrating solutions, and access to two well-established companies with wide international presence”
- Eduard Farga
Maria Mora, director of the Foment UP program, explains that the added value Foment UP offers is that "it centres on seeking synergies between large corporations and startups who bank on continuity in their business relationship. Barcelona is at a very good moment for establishing these collaborations as we have a business environment that attracts projects from all over the world. The arrival of large multinationals who want to set up their innovation centers in the Catalan capital is an example of this, as is the startup ecosystem which is being established locally. Barcelona attracts talent and captures investment. With the Girbau and Seidor Indtech Challenge, we want to celebrate triumphant new tandems - because joining forces is always a guarantee of success.”

All information and application forms are available at
The deadline for applications is 30 September, 2018.

The program is supported by Foment Up and enjoys the collaboration of RCD - Rousaud Costas Duran and Biba Ventures..
